Most of this line is solid brass, not brass-plated zinc. The difference shows up in a wet room within a year: a plated zinc casting pits where the plating thins at a thread or an edge, and no polish brings it back. A solid brass bar tube carries 1.2 mm to 1.5 mm of wall, and backplates run thicker still, so a screw thread bites into metal rather than into a shell.

We offer two families of finish. Unlacquered brass is raw metal — brushed, degreased, left bare. It will develop a living patina: first a honey darkening, then a brown, and in a hard-water shower a mottled slate tone within roughly six to eighteen months depending on humidity and how often it is wiped. Lacquered brass and PVD-coated fittings hold a bright finish far longer and need almost no attention, which suits a rental flat or a client who wants the showroom look to stay put. PVD is a vacuum-deposited coating; a plated finish is electro-deposited. Neither is the same thing as raw brass, and we say so on every product page.

We buy from a small number of brass foundries and finishing shops, sample each lot, and keep the samples that survive our own bench. Every fitting is checked for four things before it is listed: the thread standard (G1/2 on tap and shower bodies, NPT available on request for North American specifiers), the spindle cartridge action through a full turn, the finish at the edges where plating and polishing are easiest to rush, and the fixing pack — wall anchor, screw, and the rose that hides both.

Tap and shower bodies are pressure-tested at the bench. We publish working pressure on request; the short version is that these fittings are built for ordinary domestic mains supply, and we will tell you plainly if a piece is not suitable for a pumped or high-pressure system. Certification documents — including water-contact approvals where the factory holds them — are available on request; we do not print a mark on a page that we cannot back with a certificate.

Nothing here is drop-shipped from a marketplace listing. Nothing is described as solid brass unless it is. We do not buy a lot, hold it, and mark it up as a rare release — the list is short because the bench is small, not because stock is being rationed.

Every carton carries the fitting, its fixing pack, a care card and a note on wall type. A shower shelf or towel bar arrives with the post caps fitted so the bar cannot walk in transit. If a fixing pack is missing, write the same day and we post one out.
