Choosing a finish
01.01Should I choose unlacquered or lacquered brass?
Unlacquered if you want the metal to age. It arrives bright and darkens to honey, then brown, over roughly six to eighteen months in a wet room. Lacquered brass or a PVD coating if you want the finish to stay close to the photograph with almost no attention, which suits a rental flat or a hotel bathroom. Unlacquered needs nothing but a dry wipe; lacquered needs a non-abrasive cloth and no solvent. Tell us the finish on the enquiry, because it changes both the price and the lead time.
01.02Is your brass solid brass or brass-plated zinc?
Nearly everything on this site is solid brass, and the product page says so. The bar tubes carry 1.2 mm to 1.5 mm of brass wall and the backplates are thicker, so a screw thread cuts into metal rather than into a plated shell. Where a component is not solid brass — the plastic pump on the soap dispenser, for example — the material line states it. Brass-plated zinc is cheaper and pits where the plating thins at an edge or a thread, so we do not buy it.
01.03What is the difference between PVD and a plated finish?
PVD, physical vapour deposition, bonds a hard coating to the metal in a vacuum at a molecular level. It resists scratching and abrasion better than electroplating and holds its colour well in a wet room. A plated finish is electro-deposited: chrome, nickel or a brass colour laid over a substrate. It looks right when new but wears at the edges and where a hand or a towel rubs. Both are coatings, neither is raw brass, and both will eventually show the difference on a heavily used fitting.
01.04Will the brass match the photographs?
No, and it should not be expected to. Unlacquered brass is a living finish: two bars from the same lot will not age at the same rate, and a piece photographed on a white sweep looks brighter than the same piece on your wall after a winter of showers. Hard water leaves a different mark from soft water. If a colour match to an existing fitting matters, ask for a finish sample before you commit the bathroom and tell us what you are matching.
Installation and fixing
02.01What fixings come with a bar, shelf or hook?
Every wall-mounted fitting ships with a fixing pack: screws, wall anchors for solid masonry, and the rose or post cap that hides both. A stud partition needs a rated wall anchor or a fixing into the stud itself, which is not in the standard pack, so tell us the wall type on the enquiry and we will include the right one. If a pack is missing or wrong, report it the same day and we post the correct pack at our cost. Do not drill a different hole to suit the screws you have.
02.02Can I fix into tile, or must I find a stud?
Tile is a surface, not a structure. A screw into tile over plasterboard holds nothing at all. You need either a stud behind the board, a rated hollow-wall anchor, or a solid masonry wall. For tile you drill with a carbide or diamond tile bit at low speed without hammer action, and you seal the hole and the fixing with silicone so water cannot track behind the tile. A shower shelf holding bottles in the wet zone deserves the most conservative fixing you can make.
02.03How do I drill tile without wrecking the waterproofing?
Mark the hole, start with a small pilot at low speed with no hammer action, and keep the bit cool. Do not drill through the tanking membrane any wider than the fixing needs. Once the post is seated, run a bead of neutral-cure silicone around the base and the screw head so splash cannot run behind the plate. If the wall is a wet-zone board with a painted-on membrane, every penetration is a break in that membrane: seal it, and take advice if you are unsure. Wall thickness and projection are on each product page.
02.04What thread standard do the taps and shower fittings use?
Our tap and shower bodies are supplied with G1/2 connections, the standard British and European parallel thread used on most domestic supplies. NPT is available on request for North American specifiers, and it is a genuinely different thread: G1/2 and 1/2 NPT do not seal reliably against each other, and forcing them cross-threads the body. Tell us the destination country and the existing installation and we will confirm the thread before you order. Seal with PTFE tape or a suitable washer, hand-tight plus a part turn.
Patina and cleaning
03.01How fast does unlacquered brass patina?
It starts within days of handling and is obvious within about six to eighteen months in a bathroom, depending on humidity, how often the piece is wiped and how hard the water is. A shower shelf in the wet zone darkens faster than a hook on a dry wall. Two pieces from the same lot will not match each other. This is oxidation of the metal itself, not a coating failing, and it cannot be polished away permanently because the brass will simply oxidise again. It is the intended finish.
03.02How do I clean brass without stripping the patina?
Wipe with a dry or barely damp cloth after a shower. That is the whole routine for unlacquered brass. Do not use abrasive cream, steel wool, bleach or a descaler containing hydrochloric or phosphoric acid: they scratch the brush grain and strip the oxide unevenly, leaving a blotchy surface. A mild soap and water rinse followed by a dry cloth is enough. If you want the bright look back, a proprietary brass polish will lift the patina, but it leaves an uneven finish and the metal darkens again within weeks.
03.03Hard water leaves marks — what removes limescale?
Limescale on brass should be dealt with gently and early. A dilute citric acid solution applied briefly and rinsed thoroughly will lift light scale, but leaving any acid on the metal too long will etch it. Never use a strong descaler on a lacquered or PVD finish, because it lifts the coating, and a lifted coating is not a warranty fault. Drying the piece after every use prevents most of the problem. In a very hard-water area, choose lacquered or PVD and accept that unlacquered will spot.
03.04Can I stop the patina, or bring the brass back to bright?
You can slow it by wiping the piece dry and ventilating the room, but you cannot stop it, because unlacquered brass is unprotected by design. A brass polish or a fine abrasive pad will bring it back to bright, then it darkens again within weeks, and repeated polishing thins the brush grain and softens the edges over the years. If a uniform bright finish is what you want for the life of the bathroom, order lacquered brass or PVD instead. That is a decision to make on the enquiry, not after installation.
Warranty and spare parts
04.01What does the 12-month mechanism warranty cover?
It covers the moving and sealing parts that fail in normal domestic use: a cartridge that drips or weeps, a spindle that loses its detent, a tired spring in a roll holder, a pump head that will not prime, and a finish that blisters, flakes or lifts without abuse. It runs for 12 months from delivery and does not depend on the 14-day return window or on keeping the carton. It does not cover patina, limescale, damage from abrasive cleaners, or a fitting installed with the wrong anchor or the wrong supply pressure.
04.02How do I replace a spindle cartridge?
Isolate the water supply first. Remove the handle, usually a grub screw under a cap or at the rear, then unscrew the retaining nut and lift the cartridge out, noting its orientation. Fit the replacement, tighten the nut hand-tight plus a part turn, restore the supply and check for weeps at the base and the spout. It takes about ten minutes with an adjustable spanner and a hex key. Write to us with the SKU and invoice number and we will send the correct cartridge. If you are unsure, use a licensed plumber.
04.03Can I buy a spare fixing pack or a replacement rose?
Yes. Cartridges, spindles, springs, pump heads, roses, post caps, grub screws and complete fixing packs are all available as spare parts. Send the SKU and the invoice number and we reply within 1 working day with availability and a price. Under the 12-month mechanism warranty a failed part is free; outside warranty it is chargeable and the freight is yours. Buying a spare pack is cheaper than improvising with a screw of the wrong length and stripping a thread.
04.04What is not covered by warranty?
Patina on unlacquered brass, limescale staining, water spotting, and marks from abrasive cream, bleach or a strong descaler. A fitting installed with a bare screw into plasterboard, without reinstated waterproofing, on a supply pressure outside the stated range, or over-torqued so the thread strips. Damage after delivery that was not reported on the day it arrived. Any piece that has been cut, re-threaded, soldered, painted or modified. Normal wear on a moving part after the 12 months has run is not a fault either, though we will still sell you the spare.
Shipping and returns
05.01Where do you ship from, and how long does it take?
Everything is packed and dispatched from Hong Kong, normally within 3 working days of cleared payment. Transit depends on the service and the destination: small fittings by recorded air courier typically take 5 to 12 working days, while bars, stands and mirrors go in a rigid carton on a quoted service. We email the tracking number when the parcel leaves. The lead time we confirm in writing is the one that applies, and we flag a customs or certification issue before you pay.
05.02What if the parcel arrives with a bent bar?
Do not install it and do not try to straighten it. Photograph the carton, the packing and the bar on the day of delivery, before you discard anything, and send the images to us the same day. We replace the bar, and we only ask you to return the bent one if the courier needs it for a damage claim. The same applies to a cracked mirror or a damaged rose. A claim made weeks later, after the carton has gone and the fitting is on the wall, is far harder to establish.
05.03How do I return a fitting for change of mind?
Write to us within 14 days of delivery with the invoice number, the SKU and the reason, and wait for a return number before you post anything. The piece must be unused, undrilled and complete, with the fixing pack untouched and the original carton. Send it on a tracked service to our registered office, write the return number on the box, and keep the receipt. We refund within 10 working days of inspection to the original payment method, less the freight you paid.
05.04Who pays duties and import tax?
You do, unless we have agreed DDP in writing on the invoice. Import duty, VAT, GST, brokerage and any inspection charge are the buyer responsibility, and you are the importer of record. If a parcel is held or returned because duty was not paid or a required certificate was not supplied, we contact you when it arrives back in Hong Kong and either re-ship it once the charges and a second freight cost are settled, or refund the price of the goods less the original outbound freight.
About the company and compliance
06.01Who is the seller on this site?
This site is operated by Lishengfa Trading Limited, a Hong Kong trading company. That company is the seller of record on every invoice, holds the business registration, and is the party to address in any dispute. Our registered office is the address printed on this page, and it is also the return address on the carton. We are not a marketplace and we are not a dropshipper: we hold the stock relationship, do the quality checks and pack from Hong Kong. Write to lishengfa2026@outlook.com and you reach us directly.
06.02Do you hold WRAS or NSF certification?
Some factory ranges carry water-contact approvals and some do not. Where a certificate exists we can supply the document; where it does not, we say so rather than imply one. Certification documents are available on request, and we will tell you plainly if a particular tap or shower body has no approval for your market. If your project requires a specific mark, say so on the enquiry and we will confirm before you order. We do not print a compliance mark that we cannot back with a certificate.
06.03Can you provide a spec sheet or CAD block for a specifier?
Yes. Send the SKU list and tell us what your drawing needs: overall dimensions, projection, wall thickness in millimetres, thread standard, finish code and the fixing centres. We reply within 1 working day with the figures we hold, and a finish sample can be posted for a project. If a dimension is critical to your design, ask us to measure the actual stock rather than quoting the catalogue, because a cast or polished part can vary by a millimetre or two.
06.04Do you sell wholesale or project quantities?
Yes. Hotels, developers, showrooms and specifiers are a normal part of what we do. Send the SKU list, the quantities by finish, the destination and the date you need the goods on site, and we will come back with a USD price, the lead time and the freight. Project orders are usually confirmed with a deposit and the balance before dispatch. We do not publish trade tiers on the site, because freight and finish mix change the number more than quantity does.
06.05How do I make a complaint?
Write to lishengfa2026@outlook.com with COMPLAINT in the subject line, the invoice number and the facts. We acknowledge within 1 working day and give a substantive answer within 3 working days: a replacement, a refund, a spare part or a clear reason. If that does not settle it, reply and ask for escalation; a second person reviews it and answers within 10 working days. You may also write to the registered office by post, marked COMPLAINT. Nothing in the process removes your rights under Hong Kong law or your own consumer law.
